We were assigned to develop a project with the Teaching & Learning Initiatives Department. We chose to develop a marketing plan that would increase awareness about the research services within Perry Library for undergraduate students. We specifically chose this project as we felt that awareness surrounding research support lacked for many undergraduate students.

During the project, we interviewed various departments to include the Library Engagement department and the Research Liaisons to gain knowledge on how to better support students. We also developed a student survey where we gained feedback from students on how they would prefer how Perry Library communicates about their services. Finally, we used all of the research material to create a final marketing proposal to present to the Engagement Department as well as presenting our Impact Project to the Internship cohort.

My professional goals of the internship were to gain experience working within an academic library setting and to gain additional experience of creating a marketing proposal in a professional environment by gaining skills in project management. The FIP internship was an amazing experience that had supportive staff, flexiblility, and creativity. This experience has opened doors for me professionally and helped me gain further internships following it. This has prepared me to take on more challenging internships in the future because it helped build my confidence and prepared me professionally and academically.
